It all started with a desire to undo the road made, that road that sometimes we travel in a hurry as in a train that we can't get off and that takes us away from our own essence. It happened in early 2017 when that desire took Francisco, founder Woodabu, back to Béjar, his hometown, to its forests and woods. Every time Francisco finished one of his first designs he would take it up to his grandmother's house to get her opinion (and to invite her to eat), becoming her main support, from the affection that this entails is where the name of this beautiful adventure, Woodabu, came from.
Woodabu is a place where craftsmanship is exercised in a different way, where we use traditional techniques related to the art of wood without neglecting innovation.
All our designs are original and are inspired by nature, sometimes in its shapes and colors and others seeking to convey the sensations of peace, tranquility or strength and character that it gives us.
The design is completed with a careful selection of woods in the sawmill, looking for quality and according to their grain, knots or "imperfections" that give the pieces a unique character.
The Woodabu family does not only pretend to be a design furniture company, we are aware of the world we live in and therefore we believe it is necessary to spread and create beauty with materials that generate a positive impact, both on the planet and on people.
If you get one of our pieces, you will be part of the so-called sustainable economy, since we are committed to a local, 100% Spanish production, always using wood from local and sustainably managed forests (our boards are FSC certified: Forest Stewardship Council).
Listen now on Spotify to the story of Francisco Izard Taillefer, founder and CEO of Woodabu.
It only took Francisco, a forestry engineer, 7 months to realize that a multinational company was not for him, he wanted to be an entrepreneur and little by little, almost like a craftsman, he got into the world of wood.
We will understand in detail this business, how it is produced, through which channels they are sold, and we will have a very interesting conversation about purpose and sustainability.
